Physio In The Sticks provides a modern, person-centred, movement and exercise based approach to rehabilitation within a strong evidence based framework. Physio In The Sticks service is only available in the United Kingdom. It is owned and run by Amanda Stephenson. Amanda graduated with a First Class Honours degree in physiotherapy from The University of Wolverhampton and a Masters degree in Pain Management from Cardiff University -as almost everyone who sees a physiotherapist has pain.
Amanda is a chartered musculoskeletal and neurological senior physiotherapist with a clinical background in sports therapy, rehabilitation and long-term neurological conditions. She has completed clinical placements in trauma and orthopaedics, frailty, women's health, neurology, musculoskeletal clinics, chronic pain management and her all time favourite elite sports physio with Team GB Judo.
Amanda has many years experience of working with people living with neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, dementia, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries.
Amanda enjoys her work as a clinical educator for physiotherapy students and has hosted over 30 students from the University of Worcester, University of Gloucester, University of Birmingham, University of Salford and the University of Sheffield.
Amanda is proud to have assisted Professor Ann Gates, www.exerciseworks.org on the global #MovementForMovement! resources to equip healthcare students to promote physical activity in the prevention and treatment of disease. The resources are used by 85 Schools of Health and 33 UK Medical Schools and had over 6 million impressions globally. Amanda was a clinical reviewer for Tom Jesson and Rob Tyer's book on Cauda Equina Syndrome The MSK Clinician's Guide.
Amanda is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Chartered Physiotherapists are required to evaluate, update and improve their skills on a regular basis in order to remain accredited to practice, ensuring you receive the best possible treatment. Amanda regularly completes up-to-date, continued professional development courses to ensure she is providing the most effective treatments.
